Awakeri School Room 3

Who are we?
In Room 3 there are 17 kids that are year 1's and their wonderful teacher is Mrs Parker.
The kids will have a fun and exciting year with Mrs Parker. And we have a frog called Ditty.

Each day we choose two people to be our "SuperDupers". Superdupers are kids that that help out Mrs Parker with the recycling and messages around the school. These are two of our superdupers.Amelie and Kaya. Dont they look cool!!!!!

I'm happy to be back at school because I missed going to school and playing with all my friends.

I missed my best friends Nicole W and Emily R. I'm looking forward to learn new maths.

Today in class we are making cards for people we care for like Mrs Parker or parents and friends.

Its reading time and we have groups that we go in, they are Snakes, Turtles, Lizards, Fish and Frogs.

We are learning about space. We have a tent in the class room that is dark as night and its got glow in the dark stars in it. So it looks like the night sky. This is a poem about space that we have to learn:

Room 3 is going to write a letter to the Board of Trustees. This is the letter:

Room 3 have been looking for a new spot for our sandpit. We think the sandpit should go by the log because there is lots of space, there is also shade. We like playing on the log around there. We think the shape of our sandpit should be an octagon so we have more space and lots of sand.

Room 3 goes swimming on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. They learn to do starfishes and diving for rings. Room 3 did a graph of what is their eye colour. It was called,"The eye colour of Rooms 3 eyes". There are 6 blues eyes, 1 hazel, 3 brown and 1 green.

25th February 2008
In Room 3 the children and Mrs Parker did a big graph of Room 3's favourite fruit. The Fruit are: Oranges, Blackberries, Plums, Bananas, Strawberries, Nectarines, Watermelon, Blueberries, Pineapple amd Apples. Strawberries and Bananas won with the most votes.

11th 2008 February
11 Feb 08 Right now in Rm 3 the kids are learning how to keep themselves clean, like washing their hands after they have been to the toilet. They are learning about Awakeri School and about their own family too.

At the Olymipcs the runners try to get a medal. The divers and the long jumpers tyr by themselves. The hockey player play all night and day. Kaya

Here are some of our night and day writing.

The earth turns around. It is night when people are sleeping. It is day when people are playing. The earth turns around. The moon is on one side and the sun is on the other side. We eat in the morning. We wash in the night. The sun is around and hot. We read in the morning and after school. It is cold at night. People dress in the morning. People brush after breakfast. In Room 3 we have been learning about the Olympics. We really enjoyed participating in Olmpic week.Our class won all the year 1 medals-Awesome!!!! We learnt about what happens at the Olympics and the history of the Olympics. Our new topic is going to be transport, past present and future.
